On the surface, most online job sites seem very similar to each other. Every job board provides lists of jobs that can be organized by profession and geographic area. Most will allow a job seeker to register and upload his or her resume. Some provide additional tools like integrated email and job tracking. Those are all of the essential functions of online job sites, and HospitalRecruiting.com provides all of those services, but it’s what we’ve done behind the scenes which make HospitalRecruiting.com different and better.
Most online job boards allow anyone with money to access your CV. Check out the employer information or sign-up page for any of the job boards you use, and you’ll see that there are practically no restrictions. “Anyone with money” could mean a real employer, a recruiting firm, or another job board that is looking to boost its inventory of physician resumes. Additionally, most general job boards have large networks of “partner” sites that share your information freely as they all seek to monetize your CV and/or contact information. Most of the time this behavior is harmless, but if you are concerned with privacy (you probably should be), this should be cause for hesitation.
HospitalRecruiting.com launched in October, 2012, into what was already a crowded and highly competitive market. We knew that we would have to offer something different in order to make the kind of impact we envisioned for the site. Our answer to this problem was to draw upon our years of physician recruiting experience and create a job site that caters to what physician job seekers really want and offers what real employers need. Simply put, we use a physician’s information only as directed by that specific physician for the purposes of his/her job search. We don’t have any partner sites with whom we share/sell your information. Not just anyone can come to our site and obtain your CV. We allow only direct hire employers to post ads on our site or search our candidate database, and we forbid recruiting firm access. To enforce this policy, we have an approval process that puts any new account into a hold status until we confirm that whoever is trying to access our site is a real representative of the hiring organization. In addition, we restrict our employer clients to searching our database only for physician specialties where they are actively advertising a job. These “rules” for our site create a condition where only real employers who have a need for your specialty can find your information on our site. We do not require registration, and we also allow physician job seekers to create confidential accounts if they prefer to register but remain anonymous.
These self-imposed restrictions definitely cost us some short term dollars, but we believe that by implementing them we are providing a better service and a better outcome for our users and, in the long run, for our company.
