Wythe County Community Hospital
Wytheville was founded in 1792 as Evansham on 100 acres of land. Named for the first signer of the Declaration of Independence for Virginia, George Wythe, the town was selected as the county seat of Wythe County in 1790. At the time, it was the junction of two great western roads, the Ingles Ferry and the Peppers Ferry trails. Today, two federal highways, Interstates 77 & 81, bring thousands of visitors each day to experience the charm and beauty of this small southern community. Wythe County is surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Blue Ridge and offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities. Hiking on the numerous mountain trails will provide visitors with the opportunity to see breathtaking forest and foliage in many relatively untouched areas. Agriculture is a prominent industry in Wythe County raking in the top 10 livestock counties in the state. A variety of recreational activities await visitors from hiking, camping, fishing, horseback riding – all within convenient distance to numerous restaurants, motels, campgrounds and attractions!

Located in the heart of Wytheville, Wythe County Community Hospital is a 100-bed, acute-care facility that provides medical services to the people of Wythe and Bland counties and surrounding areas. A healthcare leader in the community, the hospital offers a host of services including: emergency department, outpatient Iimaging, women’s services and a birthing center, urology, a bone & joint center, post-acute care, surgical services, occupational medicine, a pain center, rehabilitation and therapy services.
Wythe County Community Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and has earned Chest Pain Center Accreditation by the Society for Cardiovascular Patient Care, the accrediting arm of the American College of Cardiology. It was named a TJC 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures, earned Blue Distinction® Center Designation for Quality in Knee and Hip Replacement Surgeries, and is accredited by the American Commission on Cancer.
