Located 50 minutes west of Asheville, North Carolina, Sylva is the county seat of Jackson County. Harris Regional Hospital, established in 1925, is an 86-bed acute and specialty care facility serving the western North Carolina counties of Jackson, Swain, Graham, and Macon as well as parts of North Georgia. The hospital offers two dozen medical specialties, and its major service lines include women’s care, orthopaedics, general surgery, cardiology and emergency medicine. The hospital serves as a medical hub for patients from around the region with more than half of the hospital’s patients coming from outside Jackson County. In addition, Harris Regional Hospital operates an urgent care in Sylva and an outpatient facility in Franklin, North Carolina.
