About the position:
- Hospital employed group.
- Joining 6 physicians and full support staff
- 80% outpatient clinic, 20% inpatient/hospitalist
- 1:7 call rotation
- Average 20 patients/day in clinic
- Average daily inpatient census: 5
- Replacement position
- Onsite testing and radiology

Ishpeming is a 15-minute drive from Marquette and the shores of Lake Superior. UP Health System – Bell serves the city of Ishpeming and surrounding area, including the two cities of Ishpeming & Negaunee and the nine townships of Ely, Champion, Humboldt, Republic, Richmond, Tilden, Ishpeming, Negaunee and Michigamme. The service area is home to approximately 22,000 people. It is located in the midst of beautiful inland lakes and streams including Teal Lake, Lake Michigamme, Deer Lake, Craig Lake and the Carp River.
The area is proud of its long history of mining, and has many exhibits to honor the industry. Cliffs Shaft Mining Museum, is the site of the longest-running underground iron ore mine in the United States, with displays of a 170-ton iron ore truck or 30-ton ore bucket. The Michigan Iron Industry Museum is a favorite outing for residents and visitors.

Recreation
Ishpeming and western Marquette County offer many unique recreational opportunities. The Iron Ore Heritage Trail is a 26-mile year-round trail that incorporates the area’s mining history with a trail used by walkers, bikers, runners, inline skaters, nature enthusiasts, equestrians, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. The nationally renowned Noquemanon Cross Country Ski Marathon and the summer Ore to Shore bike race are run on this trail.
The Al Quaal Recreational Area is also a popular spot for residents. It is best known for its toboggan run that finishes on Teal Lake, but also offers cross country skiing, downhill skiing, non-motorized trails, picnic area, horseshoes, volleyball, a playground and softball. Additionally, international ski jumping events are held annually at Suicide Hill, which features five jumps ranging from 10 to 90 meters in length.
