Inaugural Chief-Infectious Disease | UT Health Science Center at Tyler | Tyler, TX- 90 mi from Dallas
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler seeks an accomplished leader to serve as the inaugural Chief of Infectious Disease.
This individual will report directly to the Chair of Internal Medicine and will be responsible for developing a nationally recognized division of infectious disease and integrate the diverse clinical and research activities within the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
The candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
- Board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Infectious Disease
- A successful track record and national reputation as an academic leader in infectious disease as demonstrated by scholarly achievement and should currently be at the Professor or Associate Professor rank.
- A commitment to developing the division through the expansion of clinical and research programs and the recruitment of additional faculty.
- A commitment to the education and training of medical students, graduate students and residents.
- A commitment to support efforts to promote a climate of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the Division of Infectious Disease
Infectious Diseases Clinical and Scientific Programs at UT Tyler
- Nationally recognized clinical and research microbiology laboratory known for its investigation of nontuberculous mycobacteria. This laboratory serves as a national referral center for susceptibility testing, identification, and treatment of nontuberculous mycobacteria.
- Clinical referral center for nontuberculous mycobacterial disease.
- Texas Center for Infectious Disease, a 75-bed specialty hospital dedicated to the treatment and elimination of tuberculosis.
- Heartland National TB Center, 1 of 4 CDC-designated centers for TB excellence. This Center is dedicated to providing clinical expertise and consultation to partners within the Heartland region to address the burden of TB in the central United States.
