Position Summary
The Dentist conducts a program of general practice dental care with responsibility for examination, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric and adult patients, emphasizing preventive care and instruction in dental hygiene. Provides dental treatment and advice to patients as may be indicated. The dentist will particularly serve in this role as a family dentist and will see patients in all age groups and serve as a consultant in dentistry to other health professions.
The schedule would be Monday through Thursday from 730 Am to 530 PM.
Required Qualifications
Requires graduation from an accredited school of dentistry; possession of valid D.D.S./D.M.D. License to practice in the State of California.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of general and pediatric dentistry.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required.
Ability to apply modern methods and practices of general four-handed dentistry.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision for patient care and follow-up, and with high productivity.
Current CPR and first aid certificate or willingness to be trained required within first (90) ninety days of employment.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred; or other languages desirable.
Travel as needed.
Must have valid drivers license and insurable driving record.
Ability to provide quality customer service and to work well with others in a professional manner in a team oriented environment.
Must have good reasoning abilities, maintain patient confidentiality, excellent communication and supervisory skills.
Must have the ability to work various shifts and occasional Saturday shift if needed. Flexibility in schedule.
Essential Responsibilities
Examines individuals requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines.
Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patients dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.
Performs dental operations and treats oral diseases; refers cases, when appropriate; confers with physicians regarding medical/dental problems.
Educates patients and parents in the nature of oral health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
Attends staff conferences.
Keeps clinical and other records regarding services provided, supplies and materials used.
Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services provided consistent with the organizations policies and the standards of the dental profession.
Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education to the community as requested.
Assists in the coordination and integration of the organizations dental programs and services with other organization programs and services for the welfare of the companys patients.
Responsible for personal full compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
