Job Summary:
Methodist Healthcare Systems is recruiting skilled and dedicated emergency medicine physicians to join our collegial team at Methodist ER - De Zavala in San Antonio, Texas.Qualified Candidates:
- Must be BC/BE in EM (MD or DO) and EM residency trained
- Possess strong communication skills
- Expertise in the evaluation and management of acute medical emergencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with sound judgment and decision-making skills
- 13,800 annual volume
- 9 ED beds
- 24 hours of physician coverage
- Shift times: 7a-7p, 7p-7a
- MediTech EMR
- Trauma transfers to Methodist Hospital or Methodist Children’s Hospital
- 1099 position - up to 120 hours available
- Meditech EMR
- The emergency services team is fully trained team and equipped to handle a variety of adult and pediatric conditions.
- Radiology, full-service laboratory and telemetry
- Specific on-site diagnostic equipment will include: 64-slice CT scanner, dedicated x-ray suite, ultrasound and telemetry equipment
- Immediate intervention for serious emergencies where treatment time is critical with quick transfer capabilities to any Methodist Healthcare facility
- 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases
- Use of a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) to allow staff to electronically transmit any diagnostic image

Methodist Hospital offers many advanced imaging technologies that provide clear, detailed x-rays so physicians can diagnose and treat their patients' diseases. These tools include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 3T magnetic resonance imaging, computerized tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), cerebral angiography and picture arching and communications systems (PACS). PACS captures images through the computer instead of an x-ray film. As a result, physicians with the PACS software installed on their computers can view x-rays in their office, from several locations within the hospital and even from home, providing faster and more convenient access to their patients' x-rays.
Approximately 2,000 physicians representing virtually all medical specialties comprise the Methodist's medical staff. It also maintains one of the highest nurse-to-patient ratios in the Southwest.
