Job Description

Medical Director-Skilled Nursing Facility

The UPMC in Central PA SNF program is seeking a Medical Director to oversee our employed providers and provide clinical leadership in one of our affiliated skilled nursing facilities. This position is employed by UPMC in Central PA and contracted out to our partner facility for facility-level medical director leadership.

Opportunity:

  • Actively identifies opportunities to improve the patient and family care experience within the 400+ bed skilled nursing facility
  • Leads facility clinical performance improvement (PI) initiatives
  • Key member of the facility leadership team
  • Improves the effectiveness of resources to provide high quality person centered geriatric care through smooth integration of all affiliated facilities, providers and specialties
  • Develops and oversees the consultation process, program metrics, communication (internal and external), and financial performance
  • Full time position (15% administrative, 85% clinical) subject to alteration
  • Occasional night call once per week and one week end every five, phone call only.


Professional Skills:

  • Board certified in Geriatrics and/or Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Experience with high acuity rehab patients
  • 3-5 years experience as a practicing physician with SNF experience
  • Must be comfortable working with and training CRNP/APPs
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate patient care
  • Team oriented with ability to provide personalized patient care and demonstrate positive clinical outcomes
