Job Summary:
Medical City Children's Congenital Heart Surgery Center is seeking a full time Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their premier group.Qualified Candidates:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care Program or Physician Assistant program
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure or PA licensure
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in Pediatric Acute Care
- Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility
- Eligible for hospital privileges
- Previous experience with Pediatric Cardiac ICU or Congenital Heart Surgery required
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical and ongoing clinical assessments for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative and post-operative patients
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs such as x-rays, EKGs and laboratory tests
- Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to patient’s condition and current care
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients
- Proficient use of EMR in the delivery of care
- Organizes and participates in weekly Multidisciplinary Case Conferences
- Monday-Friday day position with shared call responsibilities
