Food Service Cashier - St Joseph Village

Summary:
The main objective of the Cashier position is to maintain the Bistro to be ready for service in a timely manner. This position is also responsible to ensure food presentation, cleanliness, and readiness of food during the time of service. In addition, this position is responsible for balancing the cash drawer during their shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Must be physically able to operate equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Cashier
- Ensure the general order and cleanliness of the cafeteria area, including sweeping and mopping.
- Follow proper procedures during the time of service. Take the temperature of and taste foods before the tray line starts.
- Keep all condiments and utensils ready for the time of service. Keep all beverages, cold boxes, and chips ready and replenish as needed during the time of service.
- Refill retail refrigerators and maintain cleanliness for the time of service.
- Maintain temperature log using T-sticks or recommended thermometer.
- Maintain cash balance for assigned register during shift.
Customer Service
- Handle all customers with a smiling face, respect, and friendliness.
- Discuss with a manager when there is a discrepancy on the cash register.
- Catered to all customer needs as much as possible.
Cleanliness and Sanitation
- Follow standardized cleaning, safety, and sanitation procedures. Practice the "clean-as-you-go" philosophy.
- Maintain floor and traffic areas by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and spot cleaning.
- Follow departmental closing procedures.
- Perform daily cleaning assignments.
- Be sure every area has clean trash cans in place. Discard all trash and empty cardboard bins.
Communication
- Effectively communicate issues to management in a timely manner.
- Know the schedule and check with management before leaving.
Teamwork
- Actively participate in daily huddles.
- Assist other team members when necessary. Ask for help when necessary.
- Assist management in any way conducive to the efficient operation of the facility.
Organization
- Keep items in the work area organized effectively throughout the shift.
- Store all items in their designated labeled areas and eliminate clutter.
Requirements:
- High School Degree preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Previous experience in Food service is preferred but not required
