- Maintains required core competencies.
- Demonstrates effective problem solving by:
- Assessment and identification of issues;
- Inclusion of patient/family, providers and staff in action plan development as appropriate to the situation; and
- Implementation and evaluation of action plans for effectiveness.
- Demonstrates abilities to evaluate personnel performance by:
- Rounding on staff using Champion Way Model;
- Identifying opportunities for improving performance and mentoring staff;
- Identifying learning or skill development opportunities to address areas of deficiency;
- Planning individual and unit educational development plan based on identified needs;
- Completion of annual evaluation documents following organizational policies; and
- Utilizing coaching/mentoring and disciplinary processes as needed to improve performance.
- Demonstrates ability to impact patient care experience by:
- Rounding on patients using Champion Way model;
- Addressing service recovery in a pro-active manner;
- Coaching and mentoring staff in scripting, use of 4 P’s and patient rounding for success; and
- Monitoring and reporting to unit staff patient experience scores (i.e. HCAHPS) and developing action plans to address improvement areas.
- Effective Manpower management demonstrated by:
- Monitoring patient volumes, LOS and staffing effectiveness based on budgeted volumes and productivity;
- Develop and maintain a staffing matrix plan to guide staffing in assigned areas;
- Working closely with hospital supervisor to address staffing needs and planning for 24 hour period;
- Develops staff scheduling patterns meeting required minimum staffing per day; and
- Reporting variances to Director/Senior Executives in a timely manner.
- Effective interdepartmental relationships demonstrated by:
- Actively participating and collaborating in meetings;
- Works effectively in multidisciplinary work groups and projects;
- Assumes responsibility for assigned work projects;
- Effectively communicates department concerns to ancillary or other hospital departments in a proactive manner; and
- Active engagement in organization-wide patient and staff experience improvement projects.
- Knowledgeable of and manages in compliance with union employment agreement.
- Effectively completes other duties as assigned.
- Complies with and models Standards of Behavior and HR policies and procedures.
