POSITION SUMMARY: Provides compassionate, prescribed administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and/or related testing to HBO patients, safe, effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric facility as required by related standards, effective communication with other healthcare providers, patient and/or caregivers regarding a patient’s care, accurate, timely entry and evaluation of patient/treatment data, and leadership for safety training and compliance for facility personnel, coordinates Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society accreditation process and all documentation leading up, and other functions within the Center as required. Acts as Technician “Coordinator” overseeing and coordinating HBO facility and staff.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree.Attend approved HBO Safety Director Course. Medical training as exemplified in Licensure/Certifications itemized below.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current certification as Certified Hyperbaric Technologist. Must also be certified in one of the following vocations: Respiratory Therapist, Diver Medic, Medical Services Specialist, EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, LPN or LVN, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Chamber Technician/Operator, or Diving Medical Technician. UHMS Approved Safety Director Course (Certification)
SKILLS:
- Must have obvious concern for patient welfare
- Have sound organizational skills
- Ability to analyze data
- Read, understand and implement professional journals as well as regulatory documents
- Basic/operable computer skills
- Ability to perform basic/operable mathematics
- Possess effective/mature communication skills and be particularly attentive to detail
- Must be comfortable overseeing and coordinating HBO staff
- Ability to read and speak Spanish a plus.
EXPERIENCE: Hours required to become certified. Previous experience as a Safety Director preferred

ENVIRONMENT: Bloodborne Pathogen B:
Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens and caustic chemicals; occasional unpredictable physically demanding situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations as well as move or assist in moving, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring patients as well as equipment or supplies. Frequent prolonged standing and walking, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, sometimes in fast-paced environment. Hearing & visual acuity within normal limits.
