Orlando Health is seeking a Primary Care/Obesity Medicine Physician to join our Bariatric team. The qualified candidate will provide comprehensive care (assessment, diagnosis, treatment through behavioral/lifestyle therapy, pharmacotherapy, and coordination of metabolic/bariatric surgery) for adult patients with obesity within an established clinic.
Responsibilities:
Primary Care Services
- Conduct routine and preventive health assessments, including physical exams and diagnostic evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in patients across the lifespan.
- Develop personalized treatment plans to promote overall health and wellness.
Obesity Medicine Focus
- Provide specialized care for patients with obesity and weight-related comorbidities, including diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.
- Perform comprehensive obesity assessments, including history, physical examination, and laboratory testing.
- Develop and implement evidence-based obesity management plans, including lifestyle modification, pharmacologic therapy, and referral for surgical interventions when appropriate.
- Collaborate with dietitians, behavioral health specialists, and other team members to deliver a multidisciplinary approach to obesity care.
Patient Education and Support
- Educate patients and families on weight management strategies, including nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral changes.
- Support patients in setting realistic health goals and maintaining long-term weight management success.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, including specialists, therapists, and allied health professionals, to ensure integrated care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions for complex patient management.
Quality Improvement and Research
- Stay current with advancements in obesity medicine and contribute to implementing best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and/or clinical research projects related to obesity care and management.
Practice Highlights:
- Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

Qualifications:
- Education: M.D., D.O.
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Residency
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine
- Unrestricted FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and DEA
