Summary:
Duties include ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, interpreting standards, and identifying, recommending and implementing changes. This position serves as the liaison between the plan administration or accrediting organization and the medical or pastoral staff on matters such as credentialing and education. This includes, but is not limited to, verification of education and training, certification, and clinical practice submitted by physicians and allied health professionals. The Coordinator Credentialing demonstrates leadership through the role of advisor to the medical or pastoral staff and administration in understanding and applying the standards that the staff must meet. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining all aspects of the credentialing function, including credentialing for initial appointment, re-appointment, and managing yearly education cycles. The Coordinator Credentialing is able to advise staff leadership on matters of priority in an expeditious manner - advising on resolutions for current issues involving regulatory agencies, clinical privileges, and standards of care. The Credentialing Coordinator exercises independent judgment and discretion while interacting with senior management & leadership of hospital(s) and physicians.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare reports, minutes, special projects/presentations, accreditation/certification reports, correspondence, email and student handbook materials
- Answer incoming calls and exercise discretion in determining task urgency and priority
- Manage and coordinate assigned programs
- Develop and adhere to timelines for completing the initial screening of program applications and the accreditation process
- May create/manage a tracking system designed to ensure each applicant is making appropriate and timely advance through the application process
- May create a system for onboarding new residents or other medical staff
- Manage and integrate calendars
- Coordinate/maintain handouts and training materials
- Manage registration & credentialing process & any required documentation
- Manage projects and timelines to achieve highest quality work within allotted period
- Update on a daily basis the database for credentials
- Recommend process improvements & present information to leadership
- Responsible for all phases of preparation for staff meetings including production of agenda, documents for review and preparation of staff in advance to facilitate informed participation
