Summary:
The role involves providing specialized inpatient and outpatient care in Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Spine Health. Responsibilities include performing examinations, diagnosing conditions, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients and families on ongoing care.
Essential Functions:
Conduct thorough history and physical examinations for new office patients with neurosurgical conditions.
Evaluate postoperative patients and perform routine follow-up visits.
Formulate differential diagnoses and establish working diagnoses based on laboratory and diagnostic test results.
Develop treatment plans for neurosurgical conditions in collaboration with the neurosurgeon and refer patients to specialty services when needed.
Assist in OR and outpatient clinic duties, including on-call responsibilities as assigned, and be cross-trained to work with all department surgeons.
Support neurosurgical and orthopedic spine procedures, including craniotomies, Intrathecal Baclofen Pump placements, and spinal instrumentation procedures.
Perform hospital rounds for all patients, including those in the intensive care unit, and manage discharge planning.
Conduct initial evaluations for hospital and emergency department consults as directed.
Manage ventricular/ICP monitoring and lumbar drains.
Write prescriptions and perform procedures within the scope of practice and available protocols.
Maintain accurate and complete patient records in compliance with organizational policies.
Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and adhere to professional standards and the Code of Conduct.
Qualifications:
Required:
Active Registered Nurse and ARNP licensure with prescriptive authority in Washington State by the start date.
