Summary:

The athletic trainer will provide athletic trainer coverage to area high schools as well as help establish an active sports medicine program with high schools, colleges and the general public. The athletic trainer will attend weekly sports medicine clinic and provide support to the therapy services in the school(s) assigned. The athletic trainer may also have clinical responsibilities in support of a single Ortho/Sports Medicine Physician with CTC.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with coaches, parents, athletes, and physicians
  • Provide prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries including basic first aid, CPR, and use of AED when necessary
  • Attend Sports Medicine Clinics, including fall football Saturday morning clinics, and other public events as assigned through Regional Development and Sports Care.
  • Coordinate with physicians and therapists to provide consistent rehabilitation therapy for athletic injuries
  • Establish a schedule for coverage of athletic training room hours of operation at the assigned school
  • Be a first contact between the TMFHS and the parent, athlete, and coaching staff.
  • Attend professional meetings during the year to ensure adequate CEU's for maintenance of National Certification and state license.
  • Attend scheduled in-service meetings organized by the Coordinator of Sports Medicine and Educational Services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Athletic Training or Health-related field; 
  • Texas Athletic Trainer License; 
  • CPR for healthcare providers or Basic Life Support.
